It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
